Suicide & MarriageA friend of mine recently attempted suicide. Although he is well on the way to recovering from the depression that caused this, his marriage has suffered greatly. He is now looking for ways to help his wife cope. Can you help?Quite honestly, I would not over-emphasizing the suicide attempt, when the real issue is usually the depressed person's ongoing struggle into recovery and the spouse's fear of a repeated attempts. It's a bit like the view of the glass, is it half full or half empty? Rather than thinking of herself as the partner of a spouse's "unsuccessful" suicide, it's probably better that she think of herself as the spouse of an individual who is successfully recovering from severe depression. It truly pleases me that the couple have a friend such as you. Perhaps you could suggest to them that a visit to their Pastor will help. If you are not sure then go yourself to your Pastor to 'test the water' on their behalf or take a look at the links below. God bless you, my friend.
